Various Applications of IoT in Farming and Agriculture – All You Need to Know

The Internet of Things (IoT) has now become a part of our daily lives. The Internet of Things has various applications in devices such as smartwatches, smartphones, and much more.

Agriculture too has benefitted from IoT. Farmers have access to facilities such as automation, cloud system, sensors, artificial intelligence, and much more. Through smart agriculture, they can monitor various factors such as light humidity, temperature, and much more.  Smart agriculture uses wireless vibration sensors that gather data and allows the farmer to monitor it remotely.

Following are the Various applications of IoT in Agriculture:

1)Precision Agriculture

As the name suggests, precision farming makes farming practices more precise and controlled. Farmers can monitor livestock, inventory, field, and much more. It is useful in analyzing data collected by wireless vibration sensors. One can control various parameters such as humidity, temperature, and much more.

2)Climate Change:

Agriculture gadgets are the most popular smart gadgets used in fields. They collect data using various sensors across the field and then transfer it to the cloud. The data is used to map the climate situation and then appropriate steps are taken in order to increase crop yield.

3)Crop Management:

IoT can be used to manage crops as well. Numerous sensors are spread across the field which monitors factors such as temperature, light, soil, etc. The data is transferred to the hardware via the internet. Wi-Fi Humidity monitor tells about the humidity rate. It can be accessed remotely. This provides vital information which can be used to provide higher revenue in crop yield.

4)Agricultural Drones:

Agricultural drones also called UAVs (Unmanned Ariel Vehicles), are one of the most advanced uses of the Internet of Things. Not only they are used for crop surveillance, but also to plant crops, irrigate the soil, and much more. They are very helpful to collect data from the field.

These are the various applications of IoT. Smart farming has a long way to go and with the applications of IoT, it can reach a whole new level.
