Effective Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks

It is anticipated that the number of installed sensor points in industrial wireless sensor networks (WSN) will expand by 553% during the next five years, to close to 24 million. The emergence of practical wireless sensor networks for demanding industrial environments is the result of recent advancements in wireless communication, power efficiency, extreme downsizing (such as those enabled by MEMS sensors), and embedded computing technologies. Other factors contributing to this increase include WSNs' acceptable dependability levels for the majority of industrial applications, the emergence of WSN standards designed expressly for industrial systems, and rising public knowledge of the advantages of WSNs. It appears that wireless has crossed a critical threshold in the industrial sector.

  • Nodes are easily movable and are capable of handling node failures automatically.
  • Nodes behave and perform similarly.
  • Effortlessly expandable to larger networks with hundreds of nodes
  • Due to the lack of connections and minimal to no power maintenance, it is appropriate for tough environmental conditions.
  • Simple to use; putting and activating a node is all it takes to add a node (low or no configuration requirements)
  • Little power usage of server room environmental monitoring equipment.
  • For nodes that use batteries or harvest energy, very little electricity is used.
